Summer Institute

Note: during Summer of 2017, we’ll be focusing on leadership development of current SJVWP Teacher Consultants, thus, our next Summer Institute/Fellowship Year will begin in 2018. What follows is informational only.

*****

Each summer SJVWP sponsors an Invitational Leadership Institute in the Teaching of Writing also known as the Summer Institute (SI) for local teachers devoted to writing instruction. We accept applications throughout the school year from teachers who have at least three years of teaching experience, expertise in writing instruction, and leadership potential. Our Summer Institutes are competitive and require school/district support. At the end of the SI, participants become Teacher Leaders (TLs) who are expert teacher trainers and leaders. Our TLs often become leaders at their school sites in writing instruction. Moreover, since we work with 21st century literacies and the Common Core Standards, SJVWP contracts with schools and districts to develop site knowledge and ability in these areas in addition to writing instruction. 1. Hello- I am just finding out about this program and am wondering if there is a possibility to still apply. If not, when would be the best time to check back? I graduated last May 2013 with my masters in reading, but would like to take the final courses for my credential. Please let me know,
    Thank you,
    Gianna

  2. WOW March 4th was inspirational, I’m looking forward to passing on some of the skills I obtained this weekend. Thank you to all involved. Everyone from instructors to participants make the drive to Fresno from the high desert worthwhile.
